Inauguration Saturday 18th at 5:00 pm
Bibliotecafemminista – Via Fiesolana 2b, Florence

The exhibition brings together original photographs, prints, private portraits, and archival materials that document how women were portrayed — and often constrained — by the visual imagination of their time. From early nineteenth‑century poses to the social changes of the twentieth century, the display highlights evolutions, stereotypes, and achievements, offering a critical and accessible reading for all.
The initiative is part of the Feminist Library’s ongoing work to preserve historical memory and promote gender‑focused culture. During the opening event, visitors will be able to tour the exhibition with the curators and explore the research behind the selection of images.
The exhibition will remain open to the public in the following weeks during the library’s regular hours.
